This shirt was created by the club during the lead up of the TEAM Recruitment sponsorship deal expiring, and while Saltire Energy in the end would take the deal next, a few draft or mockup shirts were sent to prospective sponsors.
This is the first time we’ve seen them done for Aberdeen, although Aberdeen are certainly not the only club to do so. For example, in 2018/2019, Manchester United did a similar thing as their sponsorship deal with Chevrolet was nearing its end, they sent shirts to Huawei and a few other companies to see how their sponsors may look on the shirt.
